More than 100,000 farmers have planted 5,340 hectares of avocado trees, yielding about 47 million kilograms of avocados a year. Five companies process 63,000 tonnes of fresh avocados annually, which generates approximately $11.5 million in foreign exchange.

One uplifting story comes from Agricado Farms. A major producer and exporter of avocados in Uganda’s Central Region. Agricado Farms was founded in 2019. They planted 400 acres of Hass avocados and macadamia nuts, with ambitions to expand further. In 2024, the farm began exporting its first batches of Hass avocados to the Middle East. And it is now looking into European markets. All the credit for the success and high-quality production of Agricado Farms can be given to their strategic use of GlobalGAP and GRASP certifications.
